Many of the sources listed can be found in the government publications collection at Wooster. Materials in the current sales catalog (the PRF) and its online successor, the GPO Sales Product Catalog, may be searched by subject keyword, author, title, classification number or stock number.

In 1976, the introduction of machine-readable bibliographic records at GPO made possible multiple index approaches in addition to the traditional subject and keyword approach, e.g., author, title, title keywords, and series/report, stock, or SuDocs classification numbers.

  • Statistical Universe [computer file]. Bethesda, MD: Congressional Information Service, 1998 -

Provides indexing and abstracts of statistical information sources from U.S. government publications since 1973; state and private sources since 1980; and international sources since 1983. Document Ref. Index Z7552.I53 (1996 - present)

IIS covers the statistical publications of international intergovernmental organizations in much the same way that ASI does, providing detailed indexing and abstracting for each source identified. Suggestions for locating the sources are included since many may not be available in library collections. IIS is also part of a searchable database called Statistical Universe (WWW) available online.
