Government Documents Round Table of Ohio

Welcome to the Government Documents Round Table of Ohio!

Allow Us to Introduce Ourselves!

Founded in 1981, the Government Documents Round Table of Ohio (Ohio GODORT) has worked tirelessly to promote the use of government documents from all levels of government as well as to advocate the free public access to this information. By following the links to the left, you will be able to learn more about our organization and understand why we believe in "Documents to the People!"

Fall Meeting

It's time to mark your calendars for the Fall Ohio GODORT meeting! We will meet at Ohio University on Friday, November 14 for a panel discussion of the continued importance of print resources in answering reference questions, as well as for our fall business meeting. We hope to see you there! (And if you haven't yet paid your dues, you're welcome to do so at the meeting!)

You Say It's Your... Anniversary?

Among the fifty-plus federal depositories in Ohio, several are celebrating significant anniversaries over the next couple of years. Interested in finding out which depositories are how old? Our new Anniversaries web page starts the list with anniversaries for 2008 through 2010.

New Membership Brochure

We finally have an updated membership brochure available with the current officers listed. Dues are $20, covering from Spring meeting to Spring meeting, and you can either fill out the membership form in the brochure and send the money ahead or wait until the meeting to pay in person. Thanks to our past chair, Mark Gooch, for working on the updates!

Award-Winning Ohio Depository Librarian

Congratulations to Mary Webb Prophet, Deputy Director, Denison University Libraries, on her receipt of the 2008 LexisNexis/GODORT/ALA "Documents to the People" Award. This award is given as "a tribute to an individual, library, institution, or other non- commercial group that has most effectively encouraged the use of government documents in support of library service" and includes a $3,000 cash stipend to be used in support of a project of the recipient's choice. We're proud of you, Mary!

Non-Depository Microfiche Sets

The State Library has a large collection of non-depository microfiche sets, including the recently purchased CIS Index to Unpublished U.S. Senate Hearings. To find a list of the State Library's holdings, visit http://winslo.state.oh.us/govinfo/microfiche.html or the link on our Government Documents Resources page.

The "Clyde" Award

Ohio GODORT's Award for Service and Achievement, affectionately known as the "Clyde" Award, has honored a number of outstanding Ohio documents librarians over the years. You can find a description of the award and a list of honorees on our new "Clyde" Award page. If possible, we hope to make available digitized copies of the statements or certificates honoring these recipients; if you have any of these that you would like to contribute to our archives and to the web site, please contact your friendly webmaster!
